The Busy Bee
Haven't posted this week, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy. I've been upgrading some of the behind the scenes programming over at my other site, Bleeker Books. A while back Amazon.com upgraded their web services, and I'm just now getting around to updating my stylesheets to take advantage. I'm aslso taking the plunge and implementing a local shopping cart. Accessing used items has also changed; separating offers from Amazon and from their third-party resellers is now more difficult, so used items will get their own page.
Here's a couple of samples: The Narrows by Michael Connelly, and John Lutz' Single White Female. Mostly it's the same, with a bit more color and consistency. Plus I really like the "target" rating system.
Speaking of web updates, the guys at Uglytown have a new look. Hardcase Crime and PointBlank Press have gotten a lot of press in the last year or so for their hardboiled offerings, but these guys were doing it 5 years ago, and they just keep getting better (Black Lizard is the granddaddy in this category). Jim and Tom have shown what you can do without much more than good taste (despite some questionable hairstyle decisions). I almost with someone would throw a pot of money at them and bring them into the corporate fold. Almost.
