Our House Is Filled With Quite A Crowd
There's always something happening, and usually quite loud - but not anymore! After nine weeks of cohabitation, my wife's brother, his wife, and their two kids have moved into their own house, and I have to say, I'm reeeeeally happy for them. Although they did their best not to impose, it was rough. Two months with no chance for any quiet time. Madness! And various other of my wife's relatives wanted to take it one step beyond - her aunt wanted to come visit for a weekend (2 grandkids), as did her sister (4 kids).
So over Labor Day we helped the brother-in-law and company unload their stuff, among other things. I also practiced baseball with my son; he's in a coach pitch league this year, and needs work on his hitting. All I can say is, I still got my heater! Then at his team's practice I got drafted into catching for half an hour. It only put me out of action for 3 days.
Other things I did this summer: Over a weekend at my Dad's, with kids in tow, I got a sunburn on a very unfortunate place, a place I didn't even know I could get sunburned: the top of my head. I used to have hair there! Now I have to wear a hat if I go out for more than 5 minutes.
As we were driving home, I was pointing out the moon to my five year old daughter. I did my best to explain the phases by using the analogy of a tennis ball and a flashlight. My daughter looked at me and said, "Dad, the moon is nothing like a tennis ball. A tennis ball is yellow, and fuzzy." And, once again, I had to agree.
