The New Phone Books Are Here - AGAIN!!!
The new issue of Plots With Guns is out, featuring my story "Goodnight, Gracie". This is my second appearance in PWG. That mag just keeps on kicking ass. The co-editors, Neil Smith and Victor Gischler, are about as cool as they can get; they let me hang out with them at Bouchercon (I didn't really give them a choice) and I ended up having a blast. I added a description of this story on the Stories page. Joe Boog says check it out.
After the story came out I was stoked full of inspiration, and sat down and cranked out a new 2,000 word opus in just 2 hours. I reeeeally like the new story; it features a pair of Mafia tough guys name Louis Lalena and Ed Maniscalco. Those last names are my wife's maternal grandmother's married and maiden names, respectively. I fired it off to Neil so hopefully I'll know soon.
And now for something completely the same... Here it is Saturday again, and instead of playing with my kids in Shreveport I'm working in Dallas. I had to move some data from one server to another - a mere 30 gig or so - and it's taking all freakin' day. I really want to get home, because my daughter has had strep throat and has felt like total crap (not her words), and my son has been sick but not as sick, so we're not sure if he has strep or not. Annie went to the doctor the other day and got a penicillin shot, which should get her feeling better sooner or later.
The long drive back and forth is good for something, though. Last week I came up with some ideas for some XML/XSL articles to post on the site, including "Using Blogger With XML and XSL", so stay tuned.
