Shreveport Kennel & Stable Club Show
Well, the dog-and-pony yesterday went off more or less without a hitch. We did a demo of CA-Unicenter for a local ISP. We use it mainly for workstation support since we have 3 remote locations, and they'd be using it more to monitor their servers, but at the very least I think I gave them a pretty good idea of what it can and can't do. I'm not sure they'll bite off on it, but even if they don't, it went well.
Last night I gave another presentation, this one to the writer's group I'm in about Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey. This book applies the mythic structure of The Hero's Journey, as described by Joseph Campbell in The Power Of Myth, and applies it to story structure. It's a really terrific book, very insightful, and I recommend it to all writers.
I felt really comfortable giving these presentations, which is good since I'm hoping to start doing technical training in the evenings, starting around the end of March. I hope to bring in a few bucks to pay off some bills, get some money in the bank, maybe take a vacation with my wife. On the downside, I'll be adding another 40 work hours per month, cutting into what little free time I have. I really have high hopes for this project, though.
I haven't written much the past few days because I've been feeling awfully crappy. My kids gave me a cold, so I've had headaches, sore throat, the whole nine yards. Plus they've been up a lot a night, so I haven't been getting much sleep, either. I think I'm going to postpone my trip to Houston to next Monday so I'll feel a little better. I hope, anyway: my wife is going to Dallas this weekend with her friends, so I'll be watching the kids by myself. I only hope I'm up to the job.
